Multiple Resident Evil Titles Were Greenlit Last Year, Including “Some Remakes” – Rumour

It's hardly surprising, given the immense acclaim and financial achievement Capcom has garnered with the Resident Evil series in recent times, that more entries are expected to be in the pipeline. Although Capcom hasn't formally disclosed any upcoming Resident Evil projects, numerous reports have emerged suggesting a robust lineup in development.

A well-known informant, Dusk Golem, has recently shared insights indicating that up to five Resident Evil games are in various stages of progress at Capcom. Adding to this revelation, he further divulged in a Discord message, which a Reddit user later disseminated, that Capcom green-lit several Resident Evil projects last year, including a handful that are intended to be remakes.

Among the anticipated titles, Resident Evil 9 emerges as a probable candidate, rumored to be unveiled this year and slated for release the following year. Given that its development reportedly began around 2018, it does not fall into the category of freshly approved projects. When it comes to remakes, speculation heavily leans towards an overhaul of Resident Evil 5. However, discussions also stir around the possibility of other classics, such as Code–Veronica, receiving a modern facelift.

Capcom's affirmation of its strategy to continue crafting remakes of the Resident Evil series offers a glimmer of hope for fans yearning for contemporary versions of their beloved classics. With such plans in motion, the future seems promising for enthusiasts of this iconic horror franchise.
